In addition to his responsibilities at Camp613 for Boys, he
serves as a Limudei Kodesh faculty member and the Director
of Student Activities at Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC).
Rabbi Kahn's responsibilities at TABC include planning innovative
programs for shabbatonim, chagigot, retreats, color war, and
team building activities. Rabbi Kahn has also pioneered programs
such as Senior Mentoring Programs, Beit Midrash Programs,
Torah Shabbatonim, Ski Trips and the Yeshivah University Shabbaton.
Rabbi Kahn received semicha from RIETS, a master's degree
in Jewish education from the Azrieli Graduate School and is
currently pursuing his doctorate in Jewish Education and Administration.
Together with his wife and four children, Rabbi Kahn lives
in Bergenfield, New Jersey.
Tamar Sheffey, Head Counselor
Tamar Sheffey, Head Counselor for the Camp 613 girls division,
has many years of experience mentoring and guiding children
and young teens. Tamar’s responsibilities at Camp 613
for Girls include the hiring and supervision of staff and
counselors as well as the implementation of the exceptional
Camp 613 programming.
During the school year Tamar holds the position of Social
Worker for Yeshiva University High School for Boys in Manhattan.
Her responsibilities at Yeshiva University include providing
guidance to students in need as well as developing and delivering
specialized mental health and safety programs to the students
and staff.
Josh Friedman, the Athletic Director for Camp613
Boys, brings his extensive athletic educational experience
to the program.
In addition to his responsibilities at Camp613, Josh serves
as the Executive Director of Adolph H. Schreiber Hebrew Academy
of Rockland (ASHAR) in Monsey, and as ASHAR's Basketball Coach.
Josh earned an advanced degree in Technology Management
& Marketing from the Jerusalem College of Technology. In addition,
he served with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under its hesder
program and went on to officer’s training school where he
graduated as a Lieutenant in the IDF Artillery Corp. Josh
still serves in the IDF reserves, having been called up for
duty in the Second Lebanon War.
Tova Knecht, Head Counselor
As Head Counselor for the Camp 613 Girls Division, Tova’s
responsibilities include hiring and supervising the staff
and counselors, as well as the management and organization
of the exciting Camp 613 activities.
Currently, Tova serves as the 3rd grade girls’ secular
studies teacher at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey.
Previously, she has held the position as teacher for 2nd grade
boys. In addition, Tova has experience planning and teaching
curriculums for 6th grade students.
Tova resides in Bergenfield, New Jersey along with her husband
and three children.
