Lisa Strassberg, Artistic Director
With over 25 years of professional dance education and experience,
Lisa is responsible for the curriculum development, programmatic implementation
and direct in-class teaching. Lisa began her formal training at the High School for
the Performing Arts (HSPA) ( Rochester , NY ). While attending HSPA she was apprenticed
to the Garth Fagan Dance Company (the Company was awarded a Tony Award for its choreography
in The Lion King) and she studied with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Following her tenure at HSPA, Lisa attended the world renowned Boston Conservatory
( Boston , MA ) where she studied Musical Theater and Dance and earned a Bachelors in
Performing Arts. While attending the Boston Conservatory she performed extensively with
professional theaters, summer stock programs, and renaissance festivals.
More recently, Lisa has traveled the country performing in her one-woman show, entitled "The Story Goes On." In addition, she has trained countless young professionals in dance, music and theatrical performance.
Rifka Owrutsky, Executive Director
Rifka is part of the exceptional leadership team that makes Camp 613 the
fastest growing summer program around. She has been co-administering the
camp since she founded it seven years ago with Lisa. Rifka leads the visual
arts program for Camp 613. Rifka holds an undergraduate degree in Economics
from the University of Maryland.
Rabbi Kahn, serves as Program Director and head of Limudei Kodesh for
Camp613 Boys.
In addition to his responsibilities at Camp613 for Boys, he serves as a Limudei Kodesh faculty member
and the Director of Student Activities at Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC). Rabbi Kahn's responsibilities
at TABC include planning innovative programs for shabbatonim, chagigot, retreats, color war, and team building
activities. Rabbi Kahn has also pioneered programs such as Senior Mentoring Programs, Beit Midrash Programs,
Torah Shabbatonim, Ski Trips and the Yeshivah University Shabbaton.
Rabbi Kahn received semicha from RIETS, a master's degree in Jewish education from the Azrieli
Graduate School and is currently pursuing his doctorate in Jewish Education and Administration.
Together with his wife and four children, Rabbi Kahn lives in Bergenfield, New Jersey
Josh Friedman, the Athletic Director for Camp613 Boys, brings his extensive athletic educational experience to the program.
In addition to his responsibilities at Camp613, Josh serves as the Executive Director of Adolph H. Schreiber
Hebrew Academy of Rockland (ASHAR) in Monsey, and as ASHAR's Basketball Coach.
Josh earned an advanced degree in Technology Management & Marketing from the Jerusalem College of Technology.
In addition, he served with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under its hesder program and went on to officer’s
training school where he graduated as a Lieutenant in the IDF Artillery Corp. Josh still serves in the IDF reserves,
having been called up for duty in the Second Lebanon War.
Aliza Novogroder Fischman, Pre-School Director
Aliza brings 15 years of teaching experience to our pre-school program. Aliza holds a BA in communication as well as a New Jersey Teaching Certificate. Aliza has been a member of several professional associations including. The association for Supervision and curriculum Development and National councils for Teachers in numerous subjects. Aliza Fischman is currently a teacher at Moriah.
Rabbi Shlomo Hyman, Coordinator of Limudei Kodesh
Rabbi Hyman brings many years of Jewish educational experience
to Camp 613. In conjunction with Rabbi Kahn he is responsible
for the planning and teaching of the daily learning program
for both the boys and girls campuses.
In addition to his responsibilities at Camp 613, Rabbi Hyman
serves as the Youth Director for Congregation Ahavath Torah
in Englewood, NJ and he is a Rebbe at Yeshiva of North Jersey
(YNJ) in River Edge, NJ.
Rabbi Hyman received his M.S. in Jewish Elementary School
Education from the Azrieli Graduate Institute of Jewish Education
and Administration and his Semicha from Yeshiva University,
Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, Marcos and Adina
Katz Kollel.
Sam Fisher, Hockey Instructor
Sam brings his extensive athletic experience to the program.
Sam began playing ice hockey at the age of 5. His dedication
to instructional practices both in power-skating and stick-handling/shooting
drills helped earn Sam repeated league scoring titles and
numerous league ‘Most Valuable Player’ honors.
By the age of 14, Sam had been a part of countless championship
teams in leagues at Sport O Rama Ice Rinks and other areal
rinks.
While in high school, Sam was named Captain of his Metropolitan
Yeshiva High School Floor Hockey League team for each of his
4 high school years. Sam was also nominated each of those
years to the yeshiva league’s all-star team roster.
Now 18 years old, Sam is the youngest member of the Terminal
Ice Hockey Club of Rockland, ‘USA Hockey’ North
East Regional Champions 2008, and Silver Cup Champions at
the ‘USA Hockey’ 2009 National Championships held
in Tampa, Florida. |
